This one is an Official Postcrossing card from Germany! This is a neat card featuring the post office sign of the Deutsche Reichspost, dating back to 1900. Reichspost was the name given to the imperial postal service that started with the onset of the German Empire’s formation (1871) and gave way to the Deutsche Bundepost in West Germany and the Deutsche Post in East Germany (1947). This here was the sign of the imperial post office that was created at the beginning of this period. Honestly this is a pretty cool sign – it’s like a coat of arms within a coat of arms (insert inception joke here). This is now featured at the Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt (formerly the National Postal Museum). Thanks a bunch for sending me this neat postcard!
