This is a neat postcard I received over Official Postcrossing from one of the coolest states in the country! (That’s Pennsylvania, deemed so based on an objective and completely unbiased evaluation of all 50 states!) While most of my touristic US cards are based around a single state, this one actually endorses the whole nation! It’s been a while since I’ve come across one of these but I totally love it! You can see some pretty well-known landmarks here: the Liberty Bell, the White House, Times Square, the Golden Gate Bridge, a face and a half of Mount Rushmore, etc. By the way, if I’m observing correctly, it kind of looks like the landmarks go from left to right as they do east to west on the map. Well-played, card designers, well-played. Random fun fact about the United States: the current 50-star flag was created by Robert Heft when he was 17 years old. He did it as part of a school project and got a B- on it, but once Congress decided to use it, it got switched to an A! It’s only natural to get some bonus credit when your work becomes THE face of the nation, sold in 150 millions of flags each year and the subject of fiery controversy every once in a while. Heft also created the design for a 51-star flag, in case another state were to join (or I suppose if a state were to split – just don’t let it be PA!) Thanks so much for the awesome postcard, Tammy!
